Teaching

In second semester of 2007 I am teaching MATH3325.

A list of possible fourth year project topics is given here.

Research Interests

My research is concerned with Banach algebras, in particular the interrelation between their algebraic and topological properties. Some recent publications are listed here, most deal with aspects of amenability and their implication for particular classes of algebras.

I have also been working with a colleague in CSIRO on the theoretical underpinnings of various models in polymer dynamics. Forthcoming and published papers are listed here

On the pedagogical side I am interested in the development of mathematical process skills in undergraduate students, with particular focus on first courses in analysis. A relevant mailing list concerned with all aspects of mathematics education at a post-calculus level is archived at mathedu.
