If you're considering asking me to supervise you for a PhD, honours, ASC, summer scholarship, or anything else that I haven't thought of, please let me know as early as possible. Even if you're not completely sure that I'm the one you want to supervise you. The main reason is that I can't supervise everyone who asks, and I've had to turn people away because they asked me after I already agreed to supervise other students. So the sooner you ask me, or even let me know that you're considering it, the less likely it will be that I won't be able to do it because I've already agreed to do something else. In particular, for ASCs, if you can let me know before the first day of classes, that would be ideal.
