How to apply

Before you apply we recommend that you contact the graduate contact person, who will introduce you to potential supervisors in your area of interest, assist you in preparing a research proposal as part of your application, and answer any questions that you might have. You might also like to consider partaking in the Visiting Scholar Scheme.

There are no set closing dates for applications to research-only courses (PhD and MPhil). However, if you are also applying for a scholarship to undertake a research course, please refer to the information on scholarship closing dates in the Graduate School Prospectus.

For graduate degrees by coursework in mathematical sciences, the closing dates for applications are:

  • to commence in Semester 1 (February/March): 17 December of the previous year;
  • to commence in Semester 2 (July): 30 June.

Application forms and other information about applying for admission and scholarships for graduate study at the ANU are available from the ANU Graduate School web site. In particular, you can download an application form, browse the Graduate Research Student Prospectus or Graduate Coursework Student Prospectus, or take a look at the Graduate Coursework Guide or the Postgraduate Research Guide (in PDF format).

If you have difficulty in downloading the application form or any further questions, please contact the graduate contact person.
