Search the Mathematical Sciences Institute website(using the ANU's P@NOPTIC Search Engine) Basic How-ToSimple QueryA simple query is one where you enter a single word into the search field, like algebra. The search will find all the ANU MSI Web pages which contain the word `algebra'. P@noptic is case-insenitive. Multiple word queryIf you enter more than one word into the search box, like wielandt subnormal 2001, the search will find all web pages which contain all the words `wielandt' and `subnormal' and `2001'. Phrase QueryYou can also search for a phrase by using double quotes. For example, you can type "thin lie algebras". This will find all Web pages containing the text `thin lie algebras'. DisjunctionsTo find at least one of a set of words, enclose them by square brackets, with the words separated by spaces. For example, [groups algebras] will find all pages containing either `groups' or `algebras' or both. Multiple word query containing a negationIf you want to search for all the entries containing the word `algebra' but not `Banach', then enter the words algebra !banach and you will find all appropriate pages. TruncationIf you want to search for all words beginning with the string `thin' then enter the string thin*. This will find, for example, `thin', `think', `thing'. The truncation operator may occur on the right, on the left, or both, but not in the middle of a string. For example, *thin* will also find `something' and `within'. More information is available about the P@NOPTIC Search facility. |
