Two Moment Scaling Formulae For Aggregating Examination Results
D.J. Daley
Abstract:
This paper exhibits three different methods for deriving linear
transformations of
raw examination marks in order to construct ostensibly `fair' average or
aggregate
marks. All are based on the same linear model which in the case of a
balanced dataset
is closely related to a simple principal component representation.
