On the Numerical Simulation of Steel Hardening

Abstract: The simulation of steel hardening considers the diffusion of temperature, nitrogen and carbon, the development of the microstructure of steel and their influence on the mechanical behavior. The problem is time-depending and because of the strong couplings between these processes highly non-linear. We present a flexible and robust scheme for time discretization. An example will present the quality of the implemented model and the used numerical schemes.
