A streamline diffusion method and its application in semiconductor device simulations
Eric X Jiang
Abstract
Many applications in scientific computation give rise to
convection-diffusion systems. One source of such systems is
semiconductor device models. Whether the system is symmetrizable or not,
working with the primitive form is often desirable.
In this paper, we consider a
streamline-diffusion method suitable for solving such a non-symmetric
system, with particular emphasis on semiconductor device simulations.
Stability issues of the method and of its variants are discussed.
Numerical results obtained upon applying this method
for
diode and MESFET simulations
are very satisfactory.
