Deflations of Nottingham Lie algebras

Abstract:  Caranti has investigated a class of thin Lie algebras which includes the associated Lie algebra of the Nottingham group over the field of p elements. In particular, these Nottingham algebras have central extensions which can be finitely presented. We study here a class of thin Lie algebras obtained from the Nottingham algebras by the process of deflation, which was introduced in the study of graded Lie algebras of maximal class. In particular, we show that each member of this class also has a central extension that can be finitely presented.
