Each year we hold a one day seminar on advanced computational methods

• In 2004: Joint ACT NSW Anziam meeting at Vincentia.
• In 1999: When contact matters: Bushfires, epidemics, and rumours!
• In 1998: Computational and Applied Mathematics.
• In 1997: Eigenvalues and Bifurcations.

CTAC Conferences

The Advanced Computational and Modelling group has been very active in the biennial "Computational Techniques and Applications Conferences". In 1993 and 1999 we ran the conference, and members of our group have been members of the organising committee of most recent conferences. The conferences provides a venue for computational scientists from a wide range of application areas to describe their computational and modelling work.

• CTAC2008 will be organised by our program and will be run at the ANU from the 13th -16th July 2008.
• CTAC2006 was held at James Cook University, 2nd - 5th July 2006.
• CTAC2004 was held at Melbourne University, 27 September - 1 October 2004.
• CTAC2001 was held at the University of Queensland, 16-18 July 2001
• CTAC99 The Advanced Computation Program organised the Computational Techniques and Applications Conference in 1999.

Courses Presented

• In 2006, Prof Bob Anderssen persented a course on Inverse Problems
• In 2006, Dr Markus Hegland presetned a course on the Finite Element Method.
• In 2006, Dr John Maindonald coordinated the Data Mining course.
• In 2005, Prof Martin Costabel gave four talks on the topic of "Numerical methods for Maxwell equations".
• In semester 2, 2005, the program offered a course in Data mining.
• In semester 2, 2005, Prof Mike Osborne offered an Optimisation course.

Earlier Events

• APAC Summer School in Advanced Computing was run by our group and the ANUSF 10 January - 21 January 2005.
• Workshop on High-dimensional Approximation was held from 14 - 17 February 2005
• Symposium on Optimisation and Data Analysis, in honour of Mike Osborne's 70th birthday, 21 - 23 September 2005
• The program hosted a Computational Mathematics Summer School from 14-20 January 2002. The summer school aimed to impart skills and knowledge in the areas of high performance computing. It was aimed at mathematics post-graduate students and any other people with an interest in computational mathematics
• As part of the Annual General Meeting of the Australian Mathematical Society (Austms2001) we held a Computational Mathematics Session.
• Numerical Methods for Large Scale Systems of Equations. Held from the 16th Nov -20th Nov 1998. The workshop brought together people in Australia working in the area of numerical methods for large scale problems, their implementations and applications and discussed new trends, ideas and experiences.
