Algebra and Topology Seminar4pm Tuesday 18 October 2005 Emanuele Pacifici Università di Milano Graphs associated with character degrees of finite groups: a survey and some new results Let G be a finite group, and let cd(G) denote the set whose elements are the (distinct) degrees of the irreducible complex characters of G. As a large number of results in the literature indicate, the structure of G is deeply reflected and influenced by certain arithmetical properties of the set cd(G), and a useful way of studying such properties is to associate with cd(G) some particular graphs. In this lecture we present an overview on this subject, as well as some new results. Return to list of seminars |
