Divisors on principal homogenous spaces under abelian varieties

A basic question in Diophantine geometry is to determine the relation between the Picard group of divisor classes on a nonsingular variety over a field and the Picard group of that variety over the algebraic closure. In this talk I will give a general introduction to this topic and then discuss results and open questions in the case of principal homogeneous spaces over abelian varieties.
