Wreath decompositions of finite groups with trivial centre

The construction of (external) direct or semidirect products is matched by decompositions as (internal) direct or semidirect products. A wreath decomposition concept will be proposed, to match in a similar way the well known construction of wreath products. It would be desirable to understand how two different wreath decompositions of a given group relate to each other; more ambitiously, to obtain an overview of all possible wreath decompositions of a group. It will be shown that if one restricts attention to finite groups with trivial centre, the picture admits a satisfactory description.
