MSI Colloquium4pm Thursday 10 June 2004 Amnon Neeman MSI Classical invariant theory meets statistics The identifiability problem in mixture models in statistics turns out to naturally lead to a question in classical invariant theory. We will explain what mixture models are, what the identifiability problem is about, and what classical invariant theory has to do with the question. Then we will discuss a recent paper answering the question, joint with Ryan Elmore and Peter Hall.

and statistics, 15 June 2004.)
