The Committee for International Conferences on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CICIAM) is an international association of societies involved in applied mathematics and its applications. The main activity of CICIAM is to hold an international congress every four years.

The first such meeting was held in Paris in 1987. Subsequent meetings took place in Washington DC, in 1991, Hamburg, in 1995, and the last conference, ICIAM'99, took place in Edinburgh in 1999.

These meetings are now firmly established as the premier international conferences in applied mathematics. They aim to cover broad developments and the latest advances in industrial and applied mathematics. Cross disciplinary themes within mathematics, between mathematics and other disciplines, and between mathematics and particular industries are also covered.

The Australian and New Zealand Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ANZIAM), the applied division of the Australian Mathematical Society , made a bid with the full support of the Society and the National Committee. This bid was successful and the decision to appoint ANZIAM to host ICIAM2003 in Sydney was subsequently ratified by the CICIAM Board at a meeting in Sydney on the 29th-30th July 1997.

Full details of current planning for the meeting can be found on the conference website
