Public Lecture
4pm Thursday 28 July 2005,
Haydon
Allen Tank (building #23)
There was a public lecture
intended for a general mathematical audience given by
Professor Joachim Cuntz of the University of Munster.
Professor Cuntz is Director of the Mathematical Institute
at the University of Muenster, and is one of the leading
experts in Noncommutative Geometry and Operator Theory.
He is a recipient of the Max-Planck Research Prize, the
Medal of the College de France, the Leibniz Prize,
an honorary doctrate of the University of Copenhagen.
For students
There was an instructional program lasting a week
(22 - 27 July 2005) at the level of beginning postgraduate students,
followed by a workshop consisting mainly of research talks on recent
progress in the subject. There were also public lectures given by
leading experts, intended for a wider audience. The organisers have
projects related to noncommutative geometry for interested PhD or
Honours students who would like to do research with them.
