Emeritus Professor Bernhard Neumann
15 October 1909 - 21 October 2002

Bernhard Neumann was the first Professor of Mathematics and founding Head of the Department of Mathematics in the Research School of Physical Sciences from 1 October 1962.

On retiring as Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics at the end of 1974, he was made Professor Emeritus and an Honorary Fellow of ANU.

The MSI's seminar room, G35, is named for him.
