BComptlSci Degree with a Chemistry Emphasis

For those people with a strong interest in Chemistry we suggest the following sequence of units. It is possible to choose electives in first and second year (from for instance Biology or Physics) to allow a choice of application area in third year. It is suggested you consult with the appropriate chemistry year-coordinator to discuss your specific unit choices.

Notes: Possible first year elective units could be Physics or Biology first year units.
Second year electives could be chosen from within the Chemistry Department, or from other Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science departments.
Third year chemistry courses can be chosen from
  • CHEM3101: Organic Synthesis and Mechanisms
  • CHEM3102: Applied Physical Chemistry
  • CHEM3103: Transition Metal Chemistry
  • CHEM3104: Physical Aspects of Inorganic Chemistry
  • CHEM3105: Selected Topics in Physical Chemistry
  • CHEM3106: Selected Topics in Inorganic Chemistry
  • CHEM3107: Bio-organic and Natural Product Chemistry
  • CHEM3108: Physical Aspects of Inorganic Chemistry
depending on prerequisites.
