Agenda
1. Welcome/Apologies
Please note that anyone with an interest
in teaching and learning in the area of mathematics are welcome.
2. Minutes of Meeting 3/2006
Attached for reference
3. Matters arising
4. Reviewing of various First and
Second year Courses
The following three areas will be discussed, but these
areas will have implications for all our first year courses and our second
year "applied" courses. We will probably need to form one or more smaller
groups to come up with proposals for how we proceed next year.
4.1 Math1115
To discuss options to deal with the
large calculus syllabus. Ideas are to assume much more of the basic
material and concentrate on the more subtle parts of the syllabus.
4.2 Second Year Vector Calculus
At present vector calculus is taught at he start of the
second semester in
math2306. The suggestion is to move this back into the first semester
courses
math2305 and
math2405.
4.3 Honours pathway option for MATH2306
To discuss how to deal with the teaching of this course
at the standard and honour pathway level.
5. Any other business
6. Next Meeting
To be agreed
