THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY Shahar Mendelson Senior Fellow Mail: Canberra: Haifa: Email: shahar.mendelson@maths.anu.edu.au ACADEMIC DEGREES 1992 B.A Mathematics, summa cum laude, Technion, I.I.T. 1994 M.Sc. Mathematics, Technion, I.I.T. Supervisor: Yoav Benyamini 1998 Ph.D. Applied Mathematics, Technion, I.I.T. Supervisors:
Gershon Wolansky, Israel Nelken and Jacob Rubinstein MAIN RESEARCH INTERESTS: My main research interest is the theoretical side of Machine Learning. I investigate possible connections
between Statistical Learning Theory and Convex Geometry. It turns out that
those seemingly different topics are well related, and in fact, it is possible
to apply some of the advanced machinery of Convex Geometry to solve fundamental
problems which arise naturally in Learning Theory. CURRENT APPOINTMENT Senior Fellow, CMA, The Australian National University and Associate Professor, Department of
Mathematics, Technion, I.I.T. PREVIOUS APPOINTMENTS Fellow, RSISE, The Australian National University (8.2001-9.2004) Research Fellow, RSISE, The Australian National University (10.2000
- 7.2001) Post doctoral fellow, Department of Computer Sciences, Hebrew
University (10.1998 - 10.2000) Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, Technion. |
